The choice to make art and to live a creative life is more crucial now than ever. We desperately need to add our voices to the cries for change, yet the majority of us still struggle to put ourselves out there. We can get so bogged down by our own inner critic, harsh comparisons or worrying about what we “should” be doing, that we end up paralysed. As a result, we shy away from saying what needs to be said, from making what needs to be made. With that in mind, something has been in the works behind the scenes; my sister twisted my arm and convinced me record a podcast about Creatives with her…

Fast-forward to last Summer; an unusually hot one for Ireland, where she and I were spending some quality time together. After years of living on separate continents, we finally found ourselves in the same place for more than a short holiday.
Bare feet in the grass, bumble bees hovering, plants greening and the sun staying up late — it made fertile ground for new ideas. Or rather, for old ideas to resurface.
Being on No-Sleep-Leave, I was an easy target. But as we brainstormed, I found myself not only agreeing to something I had once firmly shut the door to, but truly excited about it.
What did we want to do?
Simple: our goal was to talk to artists who are successful in their fields about their creative process, their day-to-day, their coping mechanisms. But we wanted to go much deeper than that; to explore the messy-but-magical relationship we all have with our creativity. We wanted to know how the writers, artists and musicians we admire navigate the feast and famine of a life in the arts.

In the coming weeks, you can tune into candid conversations with award-winning filmmakers, poets, novelists, composers and more as they dig into questions like:
