My sister happens to be a very talented composer, so when she released her first album, she asked me to design the cover artwork. Collaborating with my sister is always something I really love to do as we work so well together and also have so much fun throughout the process.

“Irish composer Finola Merivale releases her debut album, a collection of works spanning ten years of her life, and featuring the Desdemona Ensemble, a group Merivale has collaborated closely with since moving to New York City. Merivale’s music establishes its own reference point, existing within but not being defined by the aesthetic frames of academic new music and chamber music.

Finola’s first portrait album, Tús, is released by New Focus Recordings. The album was recorded by Finola’s close collaborators, NYC-based ensemble Desdemona.
Tús features five pieces for a selection of strings, piano and electronics, composed over the past ten years, including some of her very early works.
Tús was engineered and co-produced by Mike Tierney. Tamzin Merivale designed the cover art.
The album was made possible by Sounding the Feminists and National Concert Hall’s Music Recording Award.”
